Dead Horse Ranch State Park

The story behind the name of this park begins with the Ireys family. All thanks to the family coming from Minnesota looking for a ranch in the late 1940s. While looking at ranches they found a large dead horse by the road. When they chose which ranch, the children wanted the one with the dead horse and named it appropriately so.

Old Town Cottonwood

Old Town Cottonwood is known for its Main Street. Main Street features over 60 businesses, attracting visitors to support the local residents.

Alcantara Vineyards & winery

A picturesque family owned vineyard that has over 20,000 vines and offers 17 different varietals (for the non-wino that is different types of wine or grapes).

Jail Trail

To hike Jail trail, take a stroll under the “Gateway to the Verde River” archway. A trip to Old Town Cottonwood is not complete without it. You’ll find an old jail house now converted to a quaint tea house along when you debark on the Jail Trail.
