Air Travel Consumer Report
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) released its August 2017 Air Travel Consumer Report. This monthly report is produced by the DOT’s Office of Aviation Enforcement and Proceedings (OAEP) and provides consumers with information regarding the quality of services provided by the airlines, including on time performance. The report is published approximately 30 days after month’s end.
On Time Airline Performance
The following ranking shows the on-time performance of leading U.S. carriers for the month of June:
- Hawaiian Airlines – 90.4%
- Alaska Airlines – 82.9%
- Delta Air Lines – 82.8%
- SkyWest Airlines – 81.0%
- United Airlines – 79.4%
- ExpressJet – 75.1%
- Southwest Airlines – 73.3%
- American Airlines – 73.2%
- Frontier Airlines – 73.1%
- Spirit Airlines – 68.3%
- Virgin America – 67.2%
- JetBlue Airways – 60.6%
Total for all covered airlines – 76.2%
A flight is considered delayed when it arrived 15 or more minutes later than schedule.
