Air travel over Thanksgiving is steadily growing, projections showing over 27 million travelers will fly this holiday – and all these travelers will be looking for a great deal on airline tickets.
How to Find a Deal
If you’re one of these flyers looking for a bargain, consider booking this week. According to travel search engine Skyscanner, the best time to begin booking your Thanksgiving flight is eleven weeks out or, the week after Labor Day. The potential savings for booking during this timeframe could be up to 4 percent and an average ticket price around $300.
If you are not the planning type, there is also good news. The booking window for finding a bargain is expanding and you may be able catch a deal leading up to the week of November 6.
Other tips for fining the best travel deals this holiday season:
- Expand flight searches – including nearby airports may offer more flight options as well as better pricing
- Adjust your travel itinerary – being flexible with your dates of travel may offer more results within your budget
- Set up price alerts – track price hikes and book when the price drops
